Project for all 4th grade classes at Beckum primary schools
Culture vultures become art connoisseurs
Museum educator Silvia Brede begins by gently introducing the children to the special exhibition "Among us. Images of people - Beckum committed". What can be seen there? How are the people depicted staged? What unites them? She then takes the pupils on a tour of all the exhibition rooms in the current special exhibition. Equipped with an image section, they search the 120 portraits for the right picture. In the process, they come across many a familiar face, for example from their own school or from the Alte E-Werk.
And what does it mean to fulfil an honorary position? Brede does not owe the children an answer and draws a parallel to the painted portrait, which can be found impressively in the museum foyer, where the cement baron Ferdinand Stolze and his wife Elisabeth are depicted.
After the theory in the museum, the classes continue with their teachers to the Filou studio to create their own small works of art with artist Heidi Marczinke.
This campaign marks the start of the new Kulturstrolche year, in which all children from Beckum primary schools from Year 2 to Year 4 take part in various age-appropriate projects. The current project in the city museum is supported by the museum association.
